SIG Firearms For Sale

Friedrich Peyer Im Hof, Heinrich Moser and Conrad Neher during 1853 decided to manufacture Wagons at a site above the Rhine Falls in Switzerland with an intention of making it the most successful wagon factory in the world. However, they had never ever dreamt that their venture would become the world’s most recognized small arms manufacturing enterprise. But most surprisingly, after the span of mere seven years of establishing the full fledged industrial plant for designing and building the most sophisticated railway wagons and railway bogies / railway cars, the trio – three most ambitious partners and owners of the factory decided to undertake an even more serious venture.

The Swiss Wagon Factory entered the competition of designing and developing the hi-tech rifles with the high hopes that the Swiss Army would adopt their product met the challenge by the Switzerland’s Ministry of Defence. Just after the period of four years, the Swiss Wagon Factory was awarded for its Prelaz Burnand Rifles. This perhaps proved to be the most significant turning point for this TRIO; the Swiss Wagon Factory had secured an order for 30,000 Muzzle Loading Prelaz Burnand Rifles and decided to change the company’s name to the Swiss Industrial Company – Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft that in due course of time became popular as the SIG worldwide. Thus SIG Firearms have been produced for the open markets of the world.

History

During the twentieth century the SIG Firearm P49, the forerunner of the SIG Firearm P210, were developed for the Swiss Army and intended of becoming marvel on the battlefields at the same time on the competition fields for sports and athletes. The company launched P220 pistol for the Swiss army and subsequently introduced the compact P230 exclusively designed for the Swiss police force. Both of these SIG Firearms were developed with the latest features like reliability and safety that was never offered before by any firearm manufacturers in the world. The small arms division of the SIG was consistently expanding since 1970s and thus it included Hammerli Target Arms from Lenzburg of Switzerland and J P Sauer and Sohn of GmbH of Eckrnforde in West Germany which was worldwide famous for the hunting rifles. Developments till then could not hold SIG from expanding and as a result they set their eyes on the United States market in the 1980s.

For becoming the world leader in the small arms industry the SIG’s decision of venturing in the American market is considered to be the most important and remarkable step. One fine day of January 1985 SIGARMS Inc. was given birth at Tyson’s Corner, Virginia, United States. Initially the company produced P220 and P230 pistols for the United States market. After two years SIGARMS shifted to a bigger location in Herndon, Virginia and initiated P225 followed by P226 and P228 all in 9mm calibers. By 1990 the SIGARMS moved to the new location in Exeter, New Hampshire and started manufacturing P229 in .40 S&W by 1992.
